PTSD SCREENING

Understanding the impact of trauma is the first step towards recognising when additional support may be needed.

Experiencing a traumatic event can have a profound and sometimes lasting impact on psychological wellbeing. For some individuals, symptoms develop immediately; for others, they may emerge months or even years after the event.

Post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) can affect anyone, regardless of their background, profession or previous experiences. It is not exclusive to military personnel or emergency service workers. Individuals who have experienced accidents, violence, abuse, bereavement involving traumatic circumstances or other distressing events may also experience symptoms associated with psychological trauma.

Recognising these symptoms and understanding their impact can be an important step towards seeking appropriate support.

Who is PTSD Screening for?

PTSD screening is available to adults from all backgrounds, including:

  • Military veterans and serving personnel.

  • Police officers and law enforcement professionals.

  • Firefighters, paramedics and other emergency service personnel.

  • Security professionals and individuals working in high-risk environments.

  • Individuals who have experienced traumatic incidents, accidents, violence or abuse.

  • Members of the general public who are concerned about symptoms following traumatic experiences.

You do not need to have served in the military or worked in a trauma-exposed profession to benefit from screening.
